What Is Zap?

When playing Zap! you are presented with a playing area, and your objective is to neutralize all the blue meanies. To do this you can either lure them into colliding with each other or you can zap them.

If you neutralize all the blue meanies, you win; if you run into a blue meanie then you lose. The more blue meanies that you neutralize, the higher your score. You can use the display below the playing area to keep track of your progess.

Playing the Game

Use the numeric keypad keys or equivalent to move as follows:
7 Home8 Up9 Pg Up
4 Left5 Space6 Right
1 End2 Up3 Pg Down
Pressing 5 or space lets the blue meanies move without moving yourself. There are also three special keys are available:

w
Wait until you or all the blue meanies are dead. You score more whenever you can use this option.
z
Zaps all the blue meanies next to you, if you have any zaps left. You score less whenever you use this option.
t
Teleports to a random location. If you have any teleports left then you will not be teleported on or next to a blue meanie, but they still get to move after the teleport.

When you complete a level or die, press Enter to start the next level. If you have a high score the page will reload to update the high score table. New! Fixed the update.

If the applet does not respond to keys, you should click on it to restore the keyboard focus.

Keeping Score

Zap! scoring is simple. The score for zapping a blue meanie is equal to the level you are on. The score for luring blue meanies to collide is equal to twice the level you are on, for each blue meanie, unless you are waiting, in which case the score is three times the level.
