Text Grabber
- This utility allows you to grab text from some message windows and property dialogs.
- On Windows 9x systems, it even grabs text from password (*) fields.
- Download
TextGrab.exe (7168 bytes). Or download and unzip
TextGrab.zip (2254 bytes).
- Download directly on to your desktop or download into a folder of your choice and create a shortcut.
Task Bar Property Dialogs
This utility puts Control Panel and printer property dialogs on the taskbar.
It also affects some other dialogs, such as Open With.
Improved compatibility with older control panel applets such as 16-bit ODBC.
Improved compatibility with other control panel applets such as 32-bit ODBC.
Installation
- Back up your existing RunDLL32.exe which may be in the Windows or system32 directory.
- Download
RunDLL32.exe (6144 bytes) and replace your existing file.
Or download and unzip RunDLL32.zip (2093 bytes).
Switch Off Shortcut Arrows
This utility switches off Windows® 95® shortcut arrows.
Installation
Download the following files:
N.B. BLANK.REG is configured for windows installed into C:\WINDOWS\;
if you have windows installed in any other directory you will have to edit this file first.
To switch off shortcut arrows, follow the following steps:
- Open the directory containing "blank.reg".
- Open "blank.reg". A message will appear "Information in BLANK.REG has been successfully entered into the registry. (Click OK).
- Restart Windows.
This utility switches off ALL shortcut arrows.
To switch off arrows on an individual basis,
use C:\WINDOWS\REGEDIT.EXE to find "IsShortcut" values.
Ghostly Cursors
Ghostly Cursors for Windows® 95® or NT®.
Newer cursors don't vanish over dark grey backgrounds.
However, this does make them even less visible.
They don't work on 16 colour displays, including Safe Mode.
They work with Microsoft Office tooltips but not standard tooltips.
The older cursors are still available.
Installation
To install Ghostly Cursors, follow the following steps:
- Download newer.zip (5667 bytes)
or older.zip (3973 bytes)
- Unzip it into C:\WINDOWS\CURSORS\.
If you unzip it into another directory,
you will need to edit GHOSTLY.REG before the next step.
- Open "C:\WINDOWS\CURSORS\GHOSTLY.REG".
A message will appear "Information in GHOSTLY.REG has been successfully entered into the registry.
(Click OK).
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Mouse.
- Select the Pointers page.
- From the Scheme combo box, select "Ghostly Pointers" or "Animated Ghostly Pointers".
- Click on OK.
Tooltip Workaround for Ghostly Cursors
This animated cursor replaces the standard Ghostly pointer.
It works with tooltips but suffers from flickering.
Installation
To install the Tooltip Workaround, follow the following steps:
- Download C:\WINDOWS\CURSORS\arrow_0.ani (1632 bytes)
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Mouse.
- Select the Pointers page.
- Double-click Normal Select, or click Browse...
- Double-click arrow_0.ani, or select it and click on OK.
- Click on OK.
Animated 3D Cursors
This utility enables Animated 3D Cursors for Windows® 95®. (Requires Add/Remove Programs -> Windows Setup -> Accessories -> Mouse Pointers to be enabled)
Installation
Download the following files:
N.B. POINTERS.REG is configured for windows installed into C:\WINDOWS\;
if you have windows installed in any other directory you will have to edit this file first.
To install Animated 3D Cursors, follow the following steps:
- Open the directory containing "pointers.reg".
- Open "pointers.reg".
A message will appear "Information in POINTERS.REG has been successfully entered into the registry.
(Click OK).
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Mouse.
- Select the Pointers page.
- From the Scheme combo box, select "Animated 3D Pointers".
- Click on OK.

- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Mouse.
- Select the Pointers page.
- Double click Vertical Resize, and select size4_1.ani
- Double click Horizontal Resize, and select size3_1.ani
- Double click Diagonal Resize 1, and select size2_1.ani
- Double click Diagonal Resize 2, and select size1_1.ani
- Click on OK.
